a friday

This is weird, but I'm only half a fan of Friday's. I love love love work Fridays. The feeling of almost being done, everyone's excited, getting home and feeling relief. But then anxiety and annoyance creeps in when I realize I have to go somewhere or be social. It's just filled with so many expectations. I know that sounds like I'm a wet blanket, but it's not like that on Saturdays! I think it's just the exhaustion of the week hits and my body just wants a recoup. But last night, was such a great Friday! J and were planning on having a chill night. We ended up meeting for trivia down the street from my place. First we took a photo in front of the bar we had our first date at, that closed a few weeks ago. We almost didn't stay for trivia because it was packed, but we magically got to seats at the bar. We didn't do so hot but 331 is such a great bar, we had a good time. Compared to the north loop where we went last weekend, the atmosphere was just light years better (puny hehe). The north loop is filled with 20 to 30 something's that dress to the t and are fancy and barely smile and order $13 cocktails. 331 has big bartenders that look like friendly bears that have a subtle niceness to them. The patrons love the $5 beers and the way over priced jacks pizzas and quesadillas that are tortillas with craft cheese melted in the middle. The age gaps run large among neighboring booths and the lighting is dark but somehow welcoming. It's just great, and I haven't even mentioned they have live events literally every night. I should make it a goal to go their more often. It's a great scene. But anywhoooo, after that we went to 1029, which has a similar feel. This place usually crowds up a little too much for our liking later in the night. So it was nice to be there before that hit. Karaoke is a usual thing here so that was fun to listen to. We split some lobster mac and popcorn and discussed which bras hanging from the ceiling we preferred. But sadly I think the reason we had such a great night out is because we were home by 10:30 ha! And it was magic. I like this kid.
(He was determined that he could make a frowny face like me. He failed at ever turn)
