We arrived late on Friday night to our friend, who was patiently waiting with cookies and puppy chow. We passed around "missed you" hugs, and were soon off to a bar. We spent the night dancing and drinking large beers. A+. The next morning, we woke and picked up our rental mini van (I was the proud mama for the weekend taking care of my cubs - it was precious). We drove through the foothills and were awe-struck at the beauty of this state. We gasped and ooo'd…constantly shocked at how beautiful the freeway alone was. We made our way up the incline towards the mountain to a small hike up to St. Marys Glacier. It was a perfect hike. A bit chilly, but absolutely beautiful. On our way back towards the city, we stopped at the Coors brewery for a little tour, and then stopped at the Red Rock Amphitheater. It was a great way to end the day. As we walked back down the stairs, I heard a rustling behind me. It was dusk at this point, with little sun left over in the day. I looked behind me and screamed bloody murder, while Schneids took off towards the car and Schmal ran off a little in front of me. A buck and a fawn were literally feet away from us following on the path. I think my heart stopped. We {pretty much} stayed calm and made our way back to the car. Apparently I need to work on my "fear under pressure instincts". Next time, I'll be ready.
That night, we headed to some local bars in Denver, which was a blast. A very interesting bar scene, with extremely attractive people. We stayed out late that night, and took our time rising in the morning. We had a great last breakfast, took a quick trip to Good Will, and took off for the airport once more! Overall an awesome trip.
My travel bug was fed a snack. Let's see if it's held over until January.
Smile on, friends.
