The day could not have been more perfect. I LOVE surprises, and i had literally 0% idea. I had a feeling that he was maybe looking at rings, but i thought it could be MONTHS away since we had just talked about waiting. Here's a few highlights from the day!
The morning still makes me LOL. Cause 1st, i'm not really good at trying to look cute. I really like my leisurewear, and rarely wear my "cute clothes". But that day i was going to my mom's art show and thought i would wear a cute dress + a bandanna and put dunken in a matching one since i was bringing him with! It was so fun. It was also one of John's fave dresses, so he thought I for sure knew something was going on - ha! But nope!
John's plan all along was...since his "best friend from college had a long layover in minneapolis from san fran, he was bringing him back to the house to show it to him and i could come home around lunch time and meet him". Totally fell for it. The lie was PERFECTION. Cause I obviously wouldn't miss that, and it was casual enough that it was not suspicious at all!
I took off for the art fair and it was SUCH a hot day. Hung out and had a blast per usual. Around 12 I called John asking if his friend was there yet, and he said yep we're at the house come whenever. So i said crap OK coming!
And then...i didn't leave right away. I remember saying to my sister, they're having fun i'm sure right i can stay 15 more minutes? So i took my time, and then finally left. But the thing was I parked really far away to avoid traffic, and it was SO hot, I had to stop for dunken quite a few times to give him water. Then him and I wrestled by the car while I wanted the AC to take effect so the car would be cooler for dunken.
Meanwhile I guess my sister is watching me on find my friends this whole time and updating John who is patiently waiting, and they're both like WTF - why is she taking so long? Heheheheh oops
So i drive home, pull in, get out of the car, STILL take my time to see if dunken would pee in the yard before we go in. I try to open the door and am pissed cause it's locked , thinking why would he lock the door if he knew i was coming, i go in and say "you who" and tell dunken, go meet your new friend!
Meanwhile John's just sitting in the living room on the couch.
I put all my stuff down, not really wondering why it's so quiet yet...i walk through the kitchen and it's just john sitting on the couch, and he says there is no friend, and i know. Cause there are flowers everywhere and he has something in his hand, and I awkwardly say ok, and he says come sit down and i awkwardly do.
Then he goes through these beautiful cards that have art of each place we have visited and inside he explains a happy memory for ever place, and yeah i'm crying the whole time, and then he gets to the final card and it's minneapolis and he says he loves our home and our live and i cry more and then it happens and its perfection.
And then we're like now what? hahahah
So I start texting some people and i facetime my mom and she's freaking out and eventually we decide to go back to the art fair to celebrate with them, and he says we have time since later tonight ALL YOUR FRIENDS ARE COMING!!! He's the best for real.
So we go to the art fair and it rocks, and my mom and sis knew the whole time and i couldn't believe it. And then we come back and get the house ready and john's parents bring over food and drinks! And people slowly come, and when i'm chatting with my BFF katie and so exited she's there, in walks my other BFF Erin and her babies who drove FIVE HOURS JUST TO SEE US and i bawl and am so excited and then everythings a blur cause the night is perfect.
Ahhhh, happy hoots.

And can I talk about the ring for a second. ohmygawd. It could literally not be more perfect, i can't even put it into words. And it's his grams diamond!
John also filmed it, which is more special than I could ever have imagined! I have so much gratitude for him for doing that! It was so thoughtful since he knew I would love that.
The next day we also were visiting my family, so it was special to see family too!
