Wandering - Saturday in NYC

Today we got up early, to wait in "line" for student rush tickets to Jersey Boys on Broadway. We got there right on time and there were only 4 people in line in front of us, pretty painless! Next we trotted on down to Times Square to go to McDirrty's (that's McDonalds...in normal man's terms) for some breakfast. YUM. It's great anywhere. It was pretty crappy weather already, just some icky rain, but nothing to painful. We watched the little ant people wander around the square from the window. With there umbrellas flyin' all over the place and turning inside out. image

This was our view from the window at McDirrts. I am pretty confident in saying that Times Square was actually cooler than I expected. But I think I can say that about the whole city too. I didn't have been expectations about this place, I tried to keep my mind open, and it paid off because I really like it here!

Catching some snowflakes, you can tell that this is early on in the snow fall as it isn't covering the ground yet.

As the night went on, the snow became heavier and thicker (and more slippery!). There were warnings that no one should go to any parks as the trees still had leaves, and the snow is so heavy, that branches could break or trees could fall down completely! Crazy.

After relaxing for a bit back in Brooklyn, we came back to Manhatten to the E & E Grillhouse for dinner. There was a coupon for this place on the back of our tickets for 20% off, and it turned out to be WONDERFUL! Only open for 2 months, the staff was very welcoming and the atmosphere was very comfortable and fun. We each had a glass of wine, spilt some steak with a blue cheese butter and chive sauce, a half-baked potato, and asparagus with an over-easy egg on top. So, so wonderful. It was a great price for what we were looking for, and it was the perfect distance from the theater! We left there smiling, giddy and so excited for the show.

Our tickets were labeled "partially obstructed view", which we were worried about, but it turned our great! One of our seats had a prop staircase that blocked part of some of the scenes, but it was hardly a bother at all. Plus the staircase was used a lot so were were sometimes 3 feet away from the performers. We could see their tears and especially their spit.

The show was absolutely amazing. The best money I have spent in a long time. It makes me laugh that we spend $10 now to go to a movie, when you can see a Broadway show for the price we did. So worth it. I recommend it for anyone!

After the show we found a little diner a block away for some dessert. I think I have finally learned by lesson that we should share food, my sundae was HUGE and I barely made a dent in it. But we definitely felt like we were on Seinfeld.

Our last stop of the night was Rockefeller Plaza at night (via my request). No one was skating, perhaps because of the late hour, or the extreme cold and snow! By this time, it was very chilly out and the snow was fallin without shame. We snapped a few photos, giggled a lot, and then made the trek home. So thankful for these wonderful times.

Yum. I love this.
