friday in NYC - night of laughs

Friday, we slept in, and took our time getting ready for the day. It was a little cloudy and chilly, but we still wanted to have a little adventure. We packed some lunches and headed to Central Park, after a stop to  a fruit stand for a fresh grapefruit and Trader Joes for a bottle of wine juice. We sat on one of those gray rock slabs at the park, that I feel are always in the movies. It was perfection! There was a great view of the city,  the lake and the park. I do have to say, when I came in fall, the colors were a lot prettier. Everything is a little drab and gray. But hey, northern states need some time to recuperate after the nasty of winter. Ew.
{some pics from my phone}
We had some fun feeding birds cheez-its {birds really like cheez-its}.

We also got some NYC hot dogs. A MUST! They were wonderful btw. I rarely eat hot dogs, but for some reason they tasted, so good!

Next, we just wandered around the city for a bit, trying on matching jackets, trying to convince E not to buy more food {seriously, how can a man eat so much?}, trying to find bathrooms after drinking a bottle of wine...
{Yes, that is a man's jacket. Nope, I would not let me man outta da house in it...!}

We went back to the NYU area of the city, and checked out some of the bars and show-huts E passes on a daily basis, to find something exciting to do. We ended up at a somewhat sketch little comedy bar that claimed to have no cover {just a two item per person minimum--I had two Blue Moons, E had one blue moon and a pile of nasty looking "veggies"--each was listed as $5-6--somehow our bill was close to $50. thanks NYC}.

The show was...interesting. I did laugh a lot, which was good, but sometimes I felt uncomfortable, and felt uncomfortable for  the comedians a lot as well. There were about 8 comedians that had a few minute segments. About half of them bombed. One lady literally had 1.5 jokes that people laughed at. We were also the butt of about half of the comedians jokes {ha!}.

This is how that went down:
Firstly, we were sitting in the middle, almost front row, with about 3 rows of empty seats in front of us. So naturally, we were a natural target.

We were mocked for being from Wisconsin.

We were mocked because when they asked for the audiences favorite animals, E shouted out "Robin".

We were mocked because of where E lives.
When one of the comedians said she was from Jersey City, E made a little noise {there's some weird rivalry between Jersey and NY}. The comedian heard him and got defensive. Asking, well where are you from then?  When he responded with his neighborhood in Brooklyn, the entire room laughed harder than they probably had the entire show {his neighborhoods is...well, one of the worst}. Basically, she continued by cracking a bunch of jokes about how he had no right to judge her city. The kicker, was when she asked "have you even looked out your window? do you even have a window?". I practically spit out my drink {because, no he does not have a window beside his sky-light, hahaha!} from laughing. And the whole crowd got the point of my bend over laughter and laughed even harder.

Overall a good experience, but maybe we will try a different place next time...!

 a little P.S. today I found out that I got the summer job I wanted, that I had only interviewed for a few days ago! Talk about great news:):):)
